For Linux, I just got a Lenovo Thinkpad P50 for $700 with i7 6830HQ, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, and Nvidia Quadro M200M. It came with Windows, but naturally, I installed Arch on it the day it arrived. Also tiling window managers are the best. I use i3.

Anthony, can a USB type cable connect a Linus OS with Windows 10 for file sharing?
gilkesisking 8 giorni fa
Linux can read Windows NTFS drives providing Windows isn't in hibernation mode or the dive is encrypted. Windows *cannot* read Linux ext4, zfs or Btrfs etc. A portable USB drive formatted to NTFS can be used between the two systems, however NTFS does not respect Linux permissions ( so forget using it as a games drive but mp3 mp4 mkv jpg png etc etc will work just fine )

I bought a System 76 computer from them and within 18 months my logic board broke but their warranty is just 12 months. In my opinion, either a computer should last longer than 18 months (like, way longer) or you should have better warranties. I won't ever use System 76 again.

Software is everything. Just because Linux can be put on most devices, it doesn't mean it belongs there. It is great that Linux is being used so much in data centers and I think it does an awesome job at that. I could see that device being plugged in a server room, but now that I have been using OS X on Apple Silicon for some weeks, and Ubuntu 3-4 months as a daily driver before that, I think that OS X fills the need for developers which realistically is the target audience for Linux.

Incorrect, Linux offers docker, kubernetes, immutability, bootable filesystem trees, isolated images, kernel level virtualisation, Toolbox virtualisation. OSX and its locked down propriety structure doesn't give you half of these choices. Linux has more than enough software for any type of user, just maybe not the software you're used to.

Worth mentioning that - System76 fully supports right to repair and provides schematics and anything you need to perform your own repairs - system76 allows you to disable Intel ME - you can still install windows on a System76 laptop, they support that and it'll run very well with no issues Personally after learning all this from Louis Rossmans video I think I'll get a laptop from them next time

gilkesisking 16 giorni fa
No. You can update the physical components on a System76 and they will support the device for ten years. Dell, Apple, Razor , Microsoft etc are designed to be replaced with a short life span... costing more in the long run. Plus Windows machines are designed for Windows, not Linux. Dell DO sell Linux machines. Check out this interview

I'm sorry, but tbh if I spend 1099 $ in a pc it better work right out of the box. I'm a daily user of Linux (Fedora and ubuntu) but at this stage I'd never spend this amount of money on a laptop like this. Much better to just buy a top notch laptop and install a distro you like, or even better, just build a desktop pc and dual boot. Windows for gaming and everything else - linux. Anyway , I really enjoyed how blunt and critic Anthony was, since it's not all roses in the Linux world, so an honest video was really refreshing for once. We need an Anthony-only YT channel asap x)
